This is the equivalent of the annual GDP of countries like Cameroon or Latvia. The founder of US giant Amazon, Jeff Bezos, finalized his divorce with MacKenzie Bezos Friday, through an agreement of about 38 billion, or 34 billion euros, announced Bloomberg News. It was a judge from King County, Washington, who finalized the separation.
Jeff Bezos, 55, will retain 12% of Amazon, which will (still) him the richest man in the world. MacKenzie Bezos, 49, will receive just under 20 million Amazon.com shares, equivalent to 4% of the company’s holdings.
MacKenzie Bezos also announced that she would sell her entire stake in the Washington Post and the Blue Origin space exploration company to her ex-husband.
Donations for charity
At the head of a huge fortune, MacKenzie Bezos promised to give half to charity.
This extraordinary divorce, announced last January, comes after twenty-five years of marriage. According to the National Enquirer, Jeff Bezos, who founded Amazon in 1994 in Seattle, reportedly had an affair with former TV presenter Lauren Sanchez.
