Berlin (DPA) – In the fight against illegal apartments, Berlin districts ask the landlords increasingly to check out. Since the introduction of fines a year ago, over 1.5 million euros came together, as a survey by the German Press Agency revealed. Over 250 hosts were affected, especially in the inner city districts. Several city councils criticize, however, that they still lack penetration rights against platforms such as Airbnb. Also, there are not enough staff for controls.
