DRC-Ebola case reported in the big city of Goma.

GOMA, Democratic Republic of Congo, July 15 (Reuters) – Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have reported a case of Ebola hemorrhagic fever in Goma, a city of one million people in the country’s east, raising fears that the virus will spread rapidly in this border area with highly populated Rwanda.

Goma is over 350 km from the region where a new outbreak of the outbreak occurred last summer. In a statement, the Ministry of Health said the unique case of hemorrhagic fever involved a priest who was infected during a visit to Butembo, a town 200 km north of Goma.

The virus has killed over 1,600 people in the country, to which must be added nearly 2,500 affected people.
