USA: Housing starts slightly below expectations

USA: Housing starts slightly below expectations: Housing starts fell 0.9% in June in the United States, according to the Department of Commerce’s seasonally adjusted data, at 1,253,000 in annualized terms, where the consensus expected 1,260,000.¬†

The number of building permits, supposed to foreshadow future housing starts, came in at 6.1% to 6.120 million, well below the 1,300,000 expected by economists on average.
