Pope Francis honors the landing of the moon.

“May the memory of this excellent step for humanity give rise to the willingness to achieve even greater objectives,” the Pontiff said on Sunday.

The first crewed moon landing 50 years ago was honored by Pope Francis while calling for a more determined engagement to a more just world.

“Yesterday, 50 years ago, after the traditional Angelus prayer on Sunday at St. Peter’s Square in Rome, the man set his foot on the moon and realized an extraordinary dream,” said the head of the Catholic churches.

“May the memory of this excellent step for mankind spark the willingness to achieve even greater objectives: the greater dignity for the weak, greater justice among peoples, more potential for our common home,” he added.
