Man victim of Montreal’s armed assault

Late Wednesday night in southwest Montreal, a 32-year-old man was stabbed in the upper body, but police say his condition is not life-threatening.

The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) estimates that around 12:15 am the person called 911 himself to say that he was stabbed. Shortly after arranging his transfer to the hospital, rescue workers appeared at his bedside.

The SPVM notes that the suspect subsequently refused to meet with their prosecutors.

The police, however, received information that prompted them to start examining what they believed was a crime scene near the Upper Lachine Road and Girouard Avenue intersection later that night. A security perimeter was built in the area of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.

A residential and commercial section of Girouard Avenue has been closed to traffic between Upper Lachine Road and Saint-Jacques Street.
