Accident in Lotbinière: two 17-year-olds lost their lives

A road disaster in the Lotbinière area, southwest of Quebec, claimed the lives of two teenagers late Thursday night.

The person driving a car heading west on route 218 has lost control of it in a curve around 11 p.m., according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). They are going in the opposite direction before hitting another vehicle.

The car’s two occupants, a 17-year-old boy and a girl of the same age, who veered from his lane, lost their lives. They were Thetford-Mines ‘ two inhabitants.

The other vehicle’s driver suffered minor injuries.

Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon and Saint-Gilles were involved in the accident. The SQ records that at the time of impact, the pavement was muddy.

The Sûreté du Québec imposed a section 21 suspension of route 218 for investigative purposes for several hours; traffic had typically resumed by mid-morning Friday.
