Snowstorm Montreal: Undergoing loading operation in Montreal after the storm

City of Montreal’s loading teams were at work Saturday at 7 a.m. Collecting the snow accumulated during Friday’s storm.

Operations should continue to collect the 35 cm of snow falling on the metropolis on Thursday and Friday until next Friday. “It brought back all the snow that was on the roofs on the public domain with the high winds we had yesterday, so our teams have 40 cm to pick up,” City spokesperson Philippe Sabourin said.

A minimum of 3000 workers is deployed to prepare the snow during the week, day and night. Meanwhile, the streets were already paved.

On their highways, Transports Québec was involved. Autoroute 40, in an easterly direction on Boulevard Cavendish, will be blocked from 11:59 p.m. for snow removal. Thursday, about 9 a.m. Sunday. Highway 13, southbound on Highway 40, will be closed from Sunday, 10 p.m., until Monday, 2 a.m.

During loading procedures, household waste disposal, recycling, and composting facilities are supported. “If it’s possible for citizens to wait for the next collection, it helps the teams,” Sabourin said, adding that garbage like recycling or compost bins should be left in the vicinity of buildings not in the snowbanks or on the sidewalks.

Montreal Fire Safety Service is advising people to keep snow out of the exits and balconies.
