Last week, the US Labor Department listed 215,000 new jobless claims, up from the past year’s 207,000.

The moving average of four weeks was 211,500, down from the past week’s 1,750. The number of unemployed people receiving regular benefits rose from the previous week’s 22,000 to 1,699,000.
