Monsoon makes 55 dead and 30 missing in Nepal

KATHMANDU, (Reuters) – Floods and landslides caused by the monsoon have left 55 dead and 30 missing in Nepal over the past three days, the Interior Ministry said Sunday.

It has forced ten thousand people to leave their homes since Thursday, especially in mountain areas where large areas are flooded.

The state of Assam, in northeastern India, has ten dead and 1.5 million displaced. Ten deaths and 500,000 IDPs are also reported in Chittagong, Bangladesh, where 200 villages are flooded.
