US visa granted to the head of Iranian diplomacy

WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) – The United States has granted a visa to Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is scheduled to attend a United Nations meeting in New York this week. From two sources close to the file.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo approved the decision. A refusal would have meant a new stiffening of the US administration against Tehran.

Bilateral tensions have worsened considerably since Donald Trump denounced the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program and ordered the reinstatement and increase of US sanctions, which now extend to the oil sector.
