The U.S. Labor Department announced Thursday that last week 206,000 fresh unemployment benefits were recorded, compared with 216,000 the past week (unrevised figure).

Analysts were again expecting 216,000 registrations.

The moving average of four weeks was measured at 213,000, down from the previous week by 5,750.
